Florida agricultural manufacturing losses from Hurricane Milton high $190M, UF economists estimate – City Ag Information

Hurricane Milton brought on agricultural manufacturing losses with an estimated worth between $190.4 million and $642.7 million in Florida, in accordance with a preliminary report by the UF/IFAS Financial Influence Evaluation Program (EIAP).

The report relies on a various set of baseline knowledge and surveys UF/IFAS agricultural economists distributed to producers.

Milton made landfall as a Class 3 storm on Oct. 9 close to Siesta Key and generated vital twister exercise between Oct. 6 and Oct. 12. Hurricane-force winds impacted 14 Florida counties: Brevard, Charlotte, DeSoto, Hardee, Highlands, Hillsborough, Manatee, Orange, Osceola, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, Seminole and Volusia.

A further 43 Florida counties skilled tropical storm-force winds. Rainfall was concentrated within the western and central areas of the state, and a few southwestern areas skilled cumulative totals above 18 inches between Oct. 6 and Oct. 12.
